Leonardo 500th anniversary exhibition preview

At the press preview today of a NEW blockbuster exhibition marking the 500th Anniversary of the death of Renaissance Master, Leonardo da Vinci. The largest UK exhibition of drawings in 65 years opens tomorrow at The Queens Gallery, Buckingham Palace. I was privileged to be invited to take a sneek peak, and thrilled to get up close and personal with these beautiful, intricate drawings.

I’ll be writing a full review and will publish the link on @hashtagtravelin just as soon as it’s live. In the meantime, please don’t miss this amazing chance to see these exquisite drawings, many of which are rarely shown due to their delicacy. The exhibition follows 12 simultaneous exhibitions of Leonardo’s drawings from The Royal Collection at museums and galleries across the UK recently, incuding @ArtGallerySoton in the South East region, which attracted more than one million visitors in total.

The exhibition runs 24 May to 13 October. In November, 80 of the drawings will travel to The Queen’s Gallery, Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh to form the largest collection of Leonardo’s works ever to be exhibited in Scotland.

With over 200 drawings how do you process the emotions in response to such a large body of work. Well, for me there were specific aspects – colours, penmanship, subjects – that really captured my heart. More later…. (tease).
